Development of this conference began as a gleam in the eyes of a few visionary individuals who managed to infect a number of colleagues with their fervour. Since then, it has grown beyond all expectations and taken on a life of its own.
With a goal of pushing seabird conservation into a coordinated global effort, the Pacific Seabird Group, along with 26 other professional seabird and research organisations from around the world, spearheaded this important conference. The inaugural 1st World Seabird Conference was held in Victoria, British Columbia, September 7-11, 2010. This conference was a huge success with over 900 participants in attendance.
